Jain Temples

The Sacred Jain Temples:

The Intricate Marble and Stone Sanctuary Inside the FortTucked deep inside the labyrinth of the living Jaisalmer Fort lies a highly spiritual network of seven beautifully interconnected Jain Temples dating all the way back to the 12th and 15th centuries.

Dedicated to various Jain Tirthankaras, these temples are globally renowned for holding an unbelievable level of architectural detail that rivals even the famous Dilwara temples of Mount Abu.

Spiritual Serenity Met with Mind-Boggling Detail

The moment you take off your shoes and step past the threshold of these temples, the busy noises of the fort town instantly fade away. The interior is a breathtaking sanctuary of soft golden light and cool stone.

The Pillars and Domes:
Every column, ceiling dome, and archway is covered in hundreds of tiny, beautifully carved figures of musicians, dancers, celestial beings, and sacred animals.

The Interconnected Pathways:
The seven temples are linked by small, winding stone corridors, making the exploration feel like a calm journey through a sacred stone maze.

Visiting Note:
The temples are highly active places of worship and are generally open to tourists from early morning until around 12:00 PM. Make sure to dress modestly (covering shoulders and knees) and note that any leather items (belts, wallets, bags) must be left outside before entering.
